Cut 10 Minutes Off of Your Beauty Routine

Who has the time anymore? You've got deadlines to meet, breakfast to make, children to run around after and a partner that barely gets your attention. Now you want to forfeit your morning beauty routine?! It's not going to happen. I'm going to give you some tips that will have you looking gorgeous and out of the door 10 minutes earlier.

Save a Skin-Care Step

Instead of using a separate astringent or toner to smooth your skin, wash your face with a cleanser that contains salicylic acid. This ingredient breaks down and removes dead skin cells to keep your pores clean.

Go for the Bronze

Woke up late? Grab some bronzing powder instead of your usual multi-step makeup. Using a large brush, sweep bronzer all over your face to create a warm glow. Then dust a little extra on your cheekbones. With a small eye shadow brush, dab some on your eyelids and brows. You can even mix it with clear gloss for bronze-toned lips.

Enter the Neutral Zone

Neutrals don't show mistakes as much as bold colors, so you have a little leeway if you mess up while you’re rushing. Plus, taupes, tans, mauves, and browns blend naturally after a few minutes as your skin warms up. Find your perfect neutral: Choose one that’s a shade deeper than your natural eyelid or lip color.

Lash Out!

Nothing wakes up your face like mascara, but it's hard to apply neatly when you’ve got to run. Think about eyelash extensions, where a professional adds individual lashes to your real ones. The process is painless, and voila! You’ll look well-rested without any makeup at all. Extensions last up to two months, with touchups every few weeks.

Fake a Manicure

Don't waste time fixing chipped nails every morning. Instead of wearing colored nail polish, apply a clear nail strengthener every few days. It looks neat and polished, but it won't chip! And the added dose of vitamins and minerals will make your nails shinier.

At the end of the day, the fact remains the same, that if you don't make time for yourself you'll end up unhappy and unhealthy. The unhappy and unhealthy version of you is of no use to anyone. Love yourself!

10 Beauty Treatments That Use Extra Virgin Olive Oil

We all know how healthy it is to cook with EVOO, but did you know that this oil has amazing external benefits? You better believe it! When you think of extra virgin olive oil you probably think of cooking. Some of the external health benefits are: anti-aging properties, acne prevention, cleanser, moisturizing properties, prevents free radical damage, and so much more!

Here are 10 beauty treatments that you can do at home with the extra virgin olive oil found under your sink!

1) Wear it as is!

You can simply wear extra virgin olive oil all by itself to treat normal, dry, oily, combination and sensitive skin. You can also apply it to skin conditions such as oily and acne prone skin. It might sound strange to apply oil to an already oily face; however this will actually make your skin less oily because they counter act each other. It's also great on your skin directly out of the bath or shower.

2) Boost your moisturizer!

Extra virgin olive oil is great at sealing in moisture. You can mix it in with your regular moisturizer at home if your skin is dry and your moisturizer alone isn’t cutting it. Just add a ½ teaspoon to the palm of your hand and mix with the moisturizer. Extra virgin olive oil is better than using regular olive oil because it is pure. Therefore you will get the best results and benefits using extra virgin.

3) Luxurious hair mask

To use as a hair mask, take a ½ cup of mayo, one egg, and 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil. Mix it all up and apply to the ends of your hair working upwards. Do not put on the scalp to avoid looking too oily. Leave on for 20 minutes and wash your hair as usual. Soft and shiny hair will follow.

4) Tastly & nourishing lip balm

To make a lip balm pour a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil and mix it with some raw, unprocessed honey. Then apply to your lips! It’s tasty too. You can also store it in a little container to take with you, but only use it the day you prepare it, and then throw it away. Without a preservative these ingredients will go rancid.

5) Exfoliate your lips

Chapped lips is something many people suffer from, a lip exfoliator is beneficial in removing the dead skin and allows the lip balm to penetrate better. To make a quick lip exfoliator at home all you need is to take some granulated sugar, and mix it with about a teaspoon of olive oil. Keep mixing until you get the right consistency, but there should be more sugar than oil. Massage into your lips, then gently wipe off with a towel.

6) Face mask

· Oily/Acne prone: Use the egg white from one egg, 1 tbsp of honey, 1 tsp of EVOO, 1 tbsp of milk.

· Dry/Combination: 1 tbsp of smushed up avocado, 1 tbsp of EVOO, 1 tbsp of honey.

7) Exfoliate your face

To create a facial scrub (it can also be used anywhere on the body) grab a bowl. Mix a ½ cup of brown sugar, a ¼ cup of extra virgin olive oil, and 2 capsules of vitamin E. Mix together, then apply it to your face. Scrub for about a minute. Brown sugar is best to use because it is not as granulated and more gentle for the face.

8) Eye make-up remover

Take a small bottle and fill it with water. Then add a few tablespoons of EVOO. Shake well. Then take a cotton ball and moisten it with the mixture, and just wipe off your makeup. Make sure it’s pretty diluted so you don’t get too much oil in your eye. Then wipe it off completely.

9) Make-up brush conditioner

A soft makeup brush is a pleasure to work with. Give your brushes a great conditioner with a little EVOO. All you do is take a paper towel, put some olive oil onto it, then swirl your brushes around on it. Afterwards rinse it with your facial cleanser, baby shampoo, or makeup cleanser. This will leave them soft, shiny, and clean.

10) Naturally lighten your hair

Mixing olive oil and honey is great for lip balm, as mentioned above. But did you know that if you apply this same combination to your hair it can make for a natural DIY hair lightener? Raw, unprocessed honey contains traces of hydrogen peroxide that gradually lighten the hair when applied consistently over time. The olive oil helps to soften the strands. You can also add ½ a banana for extra nourishment. Let it process for 10 minutes in the bowl. Then add to your hair and leave for 30-40 minutes. The measurements for this are up to the individual, and also depend on how long and how thick your hair is. You should see results after 4-5 times of doing it.

So the next time you complain about the price of EVOO, remember all the wonderful ways that you can use this oil.

Crazy Beauty Tips That Work

By Eleanor Langston via Cosmopolitan

You've been told this before: 'Okay, I know it's weird, but…' and what follows is a surprising piece of advice - about anything from clearing up a blemish to softening your skin - that totally does the trick. Call it word-of-mouth beauty. Sure, these tips might sound strange at first, but there's a logic to them. We rounded up a few pointers. Here are the gems.

1. Cure Calluses With Vaseline
Slather on petroleum jelly, and put on socks before bed to dissolve tough calluses overnight.

2. Spot-Treat Smudges
Dip a cotton swab in eye makeup remover, and trace it along your lids to erase any slip-ups when there's no time to redo your whole look.

3. Soften Your Body With Avocado
Take a ripe avocado, remove the pit and skin, and mash it up in a bowl. Slather it all over your body, let it sit for 20 minutes and then rinse off. Your skin will be sooo soft - avocado is a natural moisturizer.

4. Superglue a Nail
Instead of tearing off your nail when it breaks, put a tiny dab of Super Glue over the split, and paint a generous layer of your favorite nail polish shade over it. Go for an opaque option (like red, purple or coral) to camouflage and seal the crack.

5. Use Makeup Remover On Stubborn Lipstick
Don't try to rub off red lipstick (which makes it smear across your mouth - not so sexy). Instead, take a cotton ball or tissue, dip it in makeup remover, and just dab to erase the dark stain.

6. Tame Brows With Eye Cream
Pat any kind of rich eye cream over brows to help keep them hydrated and banish those icky white specks that look like dandruff.

7. Buff With Baking Soda
If you find yourself streaking (not glowing) after applying self-tanner, put some baking soda on a loofah, and scrub away the stripes.
