What's BB Cream All About?

BB Creams pictured here may not be available in South Africa

What does "BB" stand for?

The "BB" in BB Cream can stand for Blemish Balm or Beauty Balm

How did BB Creams begin?

It was created back in the 1950’s by a German dermatologist, Dr. Christine Schrammek.

What was the original purpose?

Its purpose was to provide a little coverage to patients with sensitive skin who had just undergone a cosmetic procedure.

When did BB Creams become popular?

Later, in the 80’s, the BB Cream was introduced to the East and was heavily endorsed by glamorous Korean celebrities as their big beauty secret. Today, however, BB Cream is popular throughout the world and can be found in most pharmacies and beauty counters.

Why are BB Creams so loved?

BB Creams combine skin care and cosmetics, making it the first beauty product to actually treat the skin. They are unique! They are also very convenient, as BB Creams can reduce the number of skin care products required in your daily beauty regime. Plus, there are BB Creams available that are very affordable!

So, what does BB Cream do?

Most BB Creams are great multi-taskers. For one, many of them are able to offer cosmetic benefits by evening out your complexion like a lightweight foundation and brightening your skin like a primer. On top of this, a good BB will also offer various skincare benefits, such as soothing your skin like an anti-inflammatory and providing sun protection.

Have your say! Are you using a BB Cream in your make-up and skin care regimen? If so, tell us your favorite in the comment section below.
